Sepp Blatter was pelted with money during a press conference.

Simon Brodkin, a British comedian, stormed into a FIFA press conference in Switzerland on July 20, insulting and throwing money at the FIFA president.

The press conference announcing the latest decision of the FIFA Executive Board on July 20th began in the most dramatic way possible. British comedian Simon Brodkin stepped up to the front.FIFA president Sepp BlatterHe claimed the money was for campaigning for the 2026 World Cup in North Korea. Confused and angered, the Swiss official requested security intervention.

As he was being led out, Brodkin managed to say, "Here you go, Sepp," before throwing a wad of counterfeit money at Blatter. The FIFA president couldn't hide his astonishment.

Blatter then left the press conference room a few minutes later, saying, "We need to clean this up. I'm here to talk about football, and these things have nothing to do with football."

"My mother just called. She said not to worry, it's just an ill-mannered guy," Blatter said after returning to his room.

Brodkin is a well-known comedian in the UK, famous for his numerous impromptu impersonations during major events. At a FIFA press conference, Brodkin impersonated Lee Nelson, managing to obtain media credentials to enter. This act brought back to light allegations that FIFA received bribes from Russia and Qatar to secure the right to host the World Cup. Swiss police subsequently arrested Brodkin.

In March 2013, Brodkin impersonated a football player named Jason Bent, walking onto the pitch to warm up with the Manchester City players. Then, in 2014, the same "Jason Bent," dressed in a suit identical to the England national team's uniform, went to Luton Airport intending to travel with the team to Brazil for the World Cup.

On July 20, the FIFA Executive Committee held its first meeting since the presidential election in June. Four days later, Blatter announced his resignation amid a corruption investigation targeting high-ranking officials of the world football governing body.

The FIFA General Assembly meeting will take place in February 2016 to vote for a new president. Mr. Blatter has stated that he will not seek re-election.
