"Cradle" of human resource training and talent nurturing
(Baonghean) - In recent years, the city's education and training sector has achieved remarkable achievements in improving people's knowledge, training human resources and nurturing talents. The quality of teaching and learning in schools in the area has been increasingly improved, the network of educational facilities has developed widely, attracting and meeting the learning needs of people in the area as well as localities in the region and internationally, contributing to the successful implementation of the common goals of socio-economic development of the city and the province.
Ms. Vo Thi Phuong Hoa, Principal of Ha Huy Tap Secondary School, excitedly said: “For many years, the school has been the second in the city in the number of excellent students at all levels, and the average score in the 10th grade entrance exam every year is approximately 40 points, second only to Dang Thai Mai Secondary School. This achievement is thanks to the care and discipline of the school, not only applied to students but also to teachers.”
The 2014-2015 school year is the year in which the sector implements the Action Program "Fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education". Therefore, the school's Board of Directors has stepped up inspection and supervision of teaching and learning, from which each Party cell and each subject group has its own creative ways to come up with good teaching methods, so that in each lesson students can develop their self-study and creativity. In 2014-2015, the school had 338 students participating in the Excellent Student exam, of which 150 students passed. In addition, last school year, the school had 59/207 students awarded IOE certificates, 45/55 students achieved the City Excellent Student award, and 14 students won prizes in the Provincial Excellent Student exam.

In the process of development and integration, the Vinh City Education sector always focuses on building a friendly and positive learning environment to train high-quality human resources, worthy of its position as the educational center of the North Central region. To achieve that result, in recent years, the city's Education and Training sector has made efforts to ensure that the network of educational facilities from preschool to high school ensures quality according to national standards, meeting the learning needs of people in the province as well as neighboring localities.
Currently, the general education system is widely developed with 107 schools from preschool to high school, of which: 47 preschool schools (19 non-public schools); 31 primary schools; 23 secondary schools; 8 high schools (5 non-public schools) and 25 community learning centers in wards and communes. Attention has been paid to investing in educational facilities to meet national standards, and to date, 65/82 schools have met the standards. The rate of general schools at all levels meeting national standards has continuously increased, from 24 schools in 2005 to 64/84 schools meeting national standards in 2015, accounting for 75%. To date, the whole city has 13 schools meeting national standards level 2.
The city has always been the leading locality in the province in terms of key quality as a premise for specialized high schools in the province. In the provincial excellent student exam in the 2014-2015 school year, the city had 104 students taking the exam, of which 82 achieved high prizes, accounting for the highest rate in the province; 245 students passed the entrance exam to Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, accounting for 64.64%, 499 students passed the entrance exam to Vinh University, accounting for 57.98%.
Mr. Thai Khac Tan, Head of Vinh City Education Department said: “To bring the city’s education sector beyond its reach and commensurate with its position as the education center of the North Central region, investing in training high-quality human resources is a prerequisite. To achieve that result, we have strengthened inspection and examination work, promoted thematic inspections to rectify the implementation of discipline, professional regulations, management and use of staff”.
The city has also firmly universalized lower secondary education (25/25 communes and wards) and is gradually universalizing secondary education. The annual high school graduation rate is 96 - 98%. The rate of students passing the entrance exams to colleges and universities nationwide is quite high, especially students from specialized schools. The number of students passing the entrance exams to colleges and universities each year is quite large, such as Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, in the 2013 - 2014 university entrance exam, ranked 7th out of 200 high schools nationwide with 516 candidates taking the exam, with an average score of 21.08, Huynh Thuc Khang High School ranked 86/200, contributing to making Nghe An one of the localities with a fairly good ranking on the university entrance map of the whole country.
Currently, in the city there are 5 universities; 7 vocational secondary schools and a system of training centers... The total training scale in the area is currently over 80,000 students (if including schools and vocational training centers, the total training scale is up to 92,000 people). The system of colleges, universities, and vocational schools at all levels has contributed a large number of skilled technical workers and high-quality human resources to the provinces of the North Central region, contributing to the rapid increase in the rate of trained labor in Vinh City and Nghe An province. This achievement is due to the attention paid to vocational training, the propaganda as well as the quality of applied training and teaching in vocational schools.
University education is one of the fields with rapid development, gradually contributing to making Vinh become a major training center of the region. In recent years, many universities have been established, actively contributing to human resource training and talent development for the country such as: Vinh University, Vinh Technical Education University, Vinh Medical University, Vinh Industrial University, Nghe An University of Economics...
It is a matter of pride that regardless of the level of education, Vinh City is the locality that attracts the largest number of excellent teachers and students. This is the achievement and premise for the city to successfully achieve the goal of becoming the education and training center of the North Central region./.
