The Swiss Attorney General's Office (OAG) announced the opening of an investigation into Sepp Blatter, alleging mismanagement and embezzlement.

Mr. Blatter was summoned for questioning immediately after a meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee in Zurich (Switzerland). This took place on the evening of September 25th, Hanoi time.

"The Attorney General's office collected evidence at FIFA headquarters, with the assistance of the Federal Criminal Police. Documents and data in Sepp Blatter's office were examined," the OAG statement said.

Blatter is currently under investigation for two incidents: one involving former FIFA Vice President Jack Warner and the other concerning UEFA President Michel Platini.

The Swiss official is under suspicion regarding the sale of television rights in 2005 to Warner, then president of the Caribbean Football Federation. This television rights deal was very low, disadvantageous to FIFA. When investigated by the FBI, Warner claimed that Blatter accepted the loss in exchange for votes in the presidential election.

In addition, Blatter is also suspected of giving Platini $2 million in 2011 on behalf of FIFA.

Mr. Blatter, who has served as FIFA president since 1998, has repeatedly maintained his innocence.

FIFA has stated its readiness to cooperate with the investigating authorities, as it has done over the past four months.

The investigation into Blatter was seen as the final step, following the FBI investigation and arrest of 13 high-ranking FIFA officials on May 27, 2015. These individuals were all under investigation for corruption.

Most recently, FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke also faced corruption charges, allegedly profiting from inflated ticket prices at the World Cup. The French official, considered Blatter's "right-hand man," was forced to resign.
