Bonus for units that caught 9 tons of smuggled ivory and rhino horn

The Da Nang City Party Committee has awarded 40 million VND to the anti-smuggling force for their achievements in catching 3 recent cases of ivory and rhino horn smuggling.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Huynh Duc Tho has unexpectedly commended the forces including: Da Nang City Customs Department, Da Nang City Border Guard, Anti-smuggling Investigation Department (General Department of Customs), Anti-smuggling Crime Prevention Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) for their achievements in detecting and seizing large quantities of ivory, rhino horn and pangolin scales.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Lang, Head of the Da Nang Port Customs Branch, said that according to information collected from the General Department of Customs' Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, implementing the direction of leaders at all levels, within 2 weeks from August 13 to 26, the forces coordinated to search 3 shipments with signs of violating the law.

During the search, the joint force discovered and temporarily seized nearly 9 tons of ivory, rhino horn, and pangolin scales smuggled from abroad to Tien Sa port. These are three unprecedented large-scale smuggling cases.

At the award ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Huynh Duc Tho said that this was a great feat and achievement in the fight against smuggling. To achieve this feat and achievement, the forces worked very dedicatedly and resolutely. Up to now, Da Nang has never had such a large smuggling case. That proves that smugglers are increasingly reckless, daring and disregarding the law.
