Here are some tips to help you have a safe long-haul flight:

Before flying

Before you plan a trip, you need to prepare everything a week in advance. Make sure you get good sleep, exercise regularly (preferably outdoors), eat healthy, avoid caffeine, and stay hydrated.

At the airport, you should walk around as much as possible. This movement helps improve blood flow and prevents feeling tired and depressed after a long flight.

Before flying, eat healthy meals with fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid caffeine, refined sugars and foods high in salt. Snack on granola bars, nuts and dried fruit, crudités and fresh fruit during the flight.

On the plane

You should only drink water and avoid stimulants. You can also bring herbal tea bags to make a drink to help relax your mind.

Close your eyes, relax, take a deep breath and imagine that the flight will only last 20 minutes. This will help you feel more comfortable with your long flight.

On the flight, you can relax by watching an interesting movie, listening to music or reading a good book. If you start to feel sleepy, take a break from everything, such as turning off electronic devices or putting down a book to rest, to avoid falling asleep while still being active.

Use lavender oil on your flight cushions to help you relax. You may also want to use eye masks or goggles and headphones. Put a “do not disturb” sign on your desk if you don’t want to be woken up for meals or shopping.

When landing

When the flight ends, you should not rush to sleep but instead find a clock to determine the current time. Eat a full meal because snacks on the flight increase fatigue.

It is advisable to change your body clock according to where you have been. Do not think or compare the time, the current changes compared to when you are at home, this will only make you feel worse.
