The scene of the car bomb attack on August 20 that injured 29 people, claimed by IS.

On Sunday afternoon, September 20, a bomb exploded near the administrative office of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, slightly injuring one policeman and one civilian. After the attack, the IS Twitter account claimed that the jihadists had just detonated a bomb targeting Egyptian security forces.

This is not the first time IS has carried out bombings targeting Egyptian security forces. Previously, on August 20, IS carried out a car bomb in a neighborhood in the north of Cairo, causing 29 people, including 6 police officers, to be slightly injured.

It is known that since the military overthrew Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 and carried out a bloody crackdown on his supporters, Egyptian security forces have been repeatedly targeted by bombings by jihadist groups.
