South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported on September 28 that China continued to build artificial islands in the East Sea, despite US President Barack Obama's warning and demand that Beijing immediately stop these illegal construction activities.

Yonhap quoted Hong Kong military expert Leung Kwok-Leung as saying that Chinese President Xi Jinping is showing a decisive attitude on the East Sea issue.

The source also quoted expert Bonnie Glaser from the US Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) as saying that breakwater construction activities in the East Sea had decreased before the official visit of Xi Jinping to the US.

However, Beijing is now continuing construction, not responding to the Obama administration's demands to end its militarization and breakwater construction.

In addition, Mr. Glaser also emphasized: "China wants to convey a message to the US that other countries also build breakwaters, and Beijing's activities are completely legitimate and legal"./.
