Toyota Vietnam wants to increase localization

Toyota Vietnam said it wants to find partners to increase the localization rate for domestically assembled car models, from the current 19-37%.

Participating in the Vietnam - Japan Supporting Industry Exhibition taking place in Hanoi are 57 Japanese enterprises and 44 Vietnamese enterprises.

At the exhibition, Toyota Vietnam (TMV) wants to find suppliers of spare parts in 4 main categories, including: Interior spare parts (Hood insulation panel, Body insulation panel No. 2, Front side panel protection...), Plastic spare parts (Radiator cover, gasket, front side panel...), Rubber spare parts (Front door glass gasket, Radiator tube No. 2...) and welding - stamping spare parts (Floor panel support, Engine compartment panel No. 2, Floor hole cover...).

After 20 years of presence in Vietnam, TMV has localized more than 270 spare parts of all kinds, calling for investment from 18 suppliers. The car model with the highest localization rate today is Innova with a rate of 37%, achieved since 2009 but up to now has not been able to increase due to market and policy factors.
