Exports in 2015 unlikely to reach target

November 7, 2015 22:47

Over the past 10 months, export turnover only reached nearly 134.6 billion USD, difficult to achieve the target set for the whole year of 2015 of 165 billion USD.

The export target for this year is to increase by 10% compared to last year (reaching 165 billion USD), but in the past 10 months, the export turnover has only reached nearly 134.6 billion USD, making it difficult to achieve the target set for this year.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the past 10 months, the export of processed industrial products has played an important role, contributing to the overall export turnover growth. The export turnover of this group of products increased by about 17.6% compared to the same period last year.

However, compared to the target set for this year's export turnover of increasing by 10% compared to last year, in the past 10 months, the export turnover has only reached nearly 134.6 billion USD, equal to 81.6% of the yearly plan. Thus, the average for the last two months of the year must reach nearly 15.2 billion USD/month.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said that this is an extremely difficult task for the industry and trade sector. Therefore, agencies and ministries need to have more drastic solutions to support and promote exports to achieve the planned targets.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that in the past 10 months, import turnover of goods needed for domestic production and consumption as well as imported goods for processing and export by foreign-invested enterprises continued to grow well, accounting for 88.3% of total import turnover.

Of which, some items such as agricultural products, ores and minerals, liquefied gas, pharmaceutical ingredients, wood and products have relatively large increases, due to the high demand for importing raw materials to serve production of enterprises near the end of the year./.
