Thanks to radio broadcasts, the new rural development program is being implemented.
(Baonghean) - In Que Son (Que Phong), the most striking change is that the roads leading to the hamlets and villages, right up to the individual households, are now all paved with concrete. The locals happily boast: This change is largely thanks to... the commune's public address system.
Mr. Phung Van Tu, from Hamlet 2, voluntarily donated over 700 square meters of land to open a road as part of the rural road construction movement in the commune. He said: “Through the commune's radio broadcast, people understand the content and significance of building new rural areas as well as the 19 criteria for new rural areas. The story of people donating land and contributing money has also been actively publicized, thereby arousing the spirit and responsibility of each citizen.”

Like Mr. Tu's family, Mr. Nguyen Cong Anh's household in Hamlet 2 voluntarily dismantled over 40 meters of their built fence. He said: "For working farmers like us, we rely on the loudspeakers to get information. From small matters to big ones, everything is conveyed to everyone through these loudspeakers. Especially in the context of building new rural areas, it's a truly effective propaganda tool. Because praising this household for voluntarily donating land also serves as a form of propaganda for households that haven't yet fully agreed."
It has been learned that, recognizing the New Rural Development program as a major policy of the Party and State, requiring the joint efforts of the entire political system, social forces, and the people, Que Son commune has prioritized propaganda work. Accordingly, after investing in a comprehensive broadcasting system, the commune has actively disseminated information by creating a special segment on New Rural Development broadcast every noon. In addition, other programs also incorporate news and articles about New Rural Development, lasting 1-2 minutes. To improve the quality and content of the propaganda, the station proactively develops programs, plans, and broadcast schedules, promptly reflecting newly emerging issues to gather public opinion and commend individuals and groups with achievements in New Rural Development.
According to Mr. Luong Tuan Anh, a land and agriculture official in Que Son commune: The act of donating land, demolishing fences, and removing long-standing trees... did not initially receive the full support of the people. In reality, for the villagers, these were not only valuable assets but also cherished mementos passed down through generations, not easily cut down. However, through propaganda, specifically through articles published in the Nghe An newspaper and the commune's radio broadcasters, the villagers saw that this was a widespread movement receiving support from people in many localities. From there, the villagers made comparisons and voluntarily followed suit. Similarly, Mr. Vu Van Thuy, head of Na Cong village, stated: The role of village elders and leaders in disseminating information and mobilizing the villagers is undeniable. But with the addition of a radio broadcast channel, the villagers understood and followed more quickly and objectively...
In Que Son, the reality shows that the local radio station has been gradually affirming its superiority, becoming an important bridge helping people better understand the new rural development movement in the locality. Speaking with us, Mr. Lo Van Chien, Chairman of Que Son commune, enthusiastically added: "Saying that the new rural development is thanks to the radio is a bit of an exaggeration, but without it, it would be very difficult. As a mountainous commune with many difficulties, Que Son has now completed 10 out of 19 criteria, including the rural transportation criterion, with more than 15 km of concrete roads."
