In the early 21st century, if the music stages in Ho Chi Minh City were bustling with the presence of May Trang and Mat Ngoc, in Hanoi, the group Con Gai was known the most. The name Con Gai also expressed the femininity of the group members: Xuan Nhi, Nguyet Anh and Bong Mai. The three girls were all students at the Hanoi College of Culture and Arts. The group was founded in 1998, after a performance in China with the Central Light Music and Dance Troupe at the suggestion of musician Ngoc Chau.

Xuan Nhi got married in 2001 to musician Quoc Binh, when the group Con Gai already had a place in the hearts of music lovers.

Not long after that, Xuan Nhi suffered from weak vocal cords, unable to speak for a long time, and communicating with others through paper made her lose confidence. That was also the reason why she looked for another direction. Fortunately, business was very suitable for Xuan Nhi.

They would go to the province to perform at noon, come back at night and then go on the same journey the next day. Xuan Nhi recalled, there was always a suitcase in the corner of the house, ready to go on a performance.

The day before getting married, Xuan Nhi left for Czechoslovakia to perform with the group the next day. All the glory, joy, anger, love, and hate that the profession brought, for Xuan Nhi, that was more than enough.

Xuan Nhi said that at that time, singers like the Con Gai group earned a lot of money whether they sang at dance halls or in the provinces. Therefore, everyone was very comfortable mentally. At that time, when they heard a good song, the group thought about asking someone to arrange it for them to sing.

In 2005, Xuan Nhi's first daughter, An Binh, was born. The couple hopes that their child will always have a peaceful life in the future.

Perhaps, compared to many of her peers, Xuan Nhi is a happy and quite successful artist. However, her life and love are still the same, simple, gentle, and unpretentious. That is what makes her parents-in-law love their virtuous daughter-in-law so much.

Bong Mai was born in Vinh city (Nghe An). When she was 5 years old, her whole family moved to Hanoi to make it easier for both her parents to study. With nothing but bare hands and no relatives, her family faced many difficulties. Bong Mai's childhood was also associated with the hardship and deprivation of her family.

At that time, her father, musician An Thuyen, was studying at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music, while her mother was studying stage directing. The first years were the most difficult time for her family. The whole family had to live in the dormitory of the Academy of Theatre and Cinema - where her mother was studying.

When studying, the teachers knew that Mai loved to sing, so they gave her priority to both playing the piano and singing. At that time, Bong Mai knew that singing was her greatest passion. After that, Bong Mai changed her direction to a professional music career at the age of 18. Passionate about singing, but Bong Mai's first artistic path was not music but dance. At the age of 14, her father advised her to learn dance because her hoarse voice would not be suitable for being a singer. Listening to her father, Mai passed the exam with a high score. After studying dance for two years, Mai easily switched to piano because she already had a foundation.

In 1997, while still a student at the Hanoi Military Arts College, Bong Mai was invited to join the Central Song and Dance Troupe to perform in China. Married for the first time at the age of 24, Bong Mai followed her husband to Saigon. She was satisfied with her life as a lecturer at the Military Arts School, teaching in the morning and cooking for her husband and young daughter in the afternoon. However, in 2005, she suddenly divorced and returned to Hanoi with her daughter.

Two years later, Bong Mai got married to Son Thach - a member of the Anh Em band and had a son in November 2007. But once again, happiness did not come to her, after 3 years of living together, the two decided to divorce. Bong Mai shared that although she is raising two children alone, she is still satisfied with her current life.

Bong Mai is currently an editor for VTV3 channel. She attends many large and small music events at home and abroad. Bong Mai's two children are growing up and becoming a strong spiritual support for their mother.
