ISIS releases video claiming to have shot down Russian plane in revenge.

The Islamic State posted a video praising its "Sinai brothers" for shooting down a Russian passenger plane and threatening further attacks.

A newly posted video shows five Islamic State (IS) militants sitting outdoors. One of them praises militants on the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, for shooting down a Russian Airbus A321, RT reported today.

The militant, who appeared to be of Slavic descent and spoke in Russian and Arabic, mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin and warned that he would regret attacking ISIS in Syria. He brandished a knife and threatened to continue shooting down planes, invading countries, and killing people in revenge against Russia.

A Metrojet Airbus A321 passenger plane, departing from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, bound for St. Petersburg, Russia, crashed on October 31st just 23 minutes after takeoff. All 224 people on board, mostly Russians, perished, making it the worst aviation disaster in Russian history.

On the same day, ISIS claimed that the militant group had shot down the Russian plane "carrying at least 220 Russian crusaders."

However, Russian and Egyptian officials quickly dismissed this information. ISIS does not possess anti-aircraft weapons with a range capable of reaching the altitude of 9,450 meters of the Russian passenger plane. Experts believe that ISIS's claim of shooting down the plane is most likely just a show of force.
