According to Business Insider, many modern Russian fighter jets were built and developed based on military technology achievements from the 1980s. Therefore, the information provided by spy Adolf Tolkatchev during this period is still useful to the US military.

David Hoffman, author of a book about Tolkachev titled "The Billion Dollar Spy," said the information provided by the traitorous spy related to most Russian fighter jets produced in the 1980s and early 1990s.

"Although the incident happened 30 years ago, it seems that the information provided by Adolf Tolkachev is still very important to US military technology experts," said David Hoffman.

Information provided by spy Tolkachev could help US fighter jets gain an advantage over Russian planes in the event of a clash over Syrian airspace.

Adolf Tolkachev headed the Soviet Union's Phazotron radar design unit during the Cold War. In 1977, Adolf Tolkachev betrayed his country, secretly cooperated with the CIA, and became one of the most important spies in American history.

During 8 years of espionage activities in the heart of Moscow, Adolf Tolkachev became an important source of information that helped the US grasp many secrets about Soviet military technology, while saving billions of dollars for weapons research and development.
