18/18 pairs of Nghe An - Laos border villages organize twinning
(Baonghean.vn) - That was the result announced at the conference to review 2 years of organizing the twinning movement between residential clusters (villages - villages) on both sides of the border of Nghe An province with 3 provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, Bolykhamxay (Laos) held in Vinh city on the morning of October 27.
Attending the Conference were comrades: Major General Le Nhu Duc - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard, Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, Bolykhamxay (Laos) and representatives of districts, communes and border villages.

Nghe An has a 419km long national border adjacent to the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolykhamxay (Laos).18/8/2013, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee chaired the organization of a high-level meeting with the Government Committees of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolykhamxay (Laos) to agree on policies, contents, and implementation measures and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on organizing a twinning movement between residential areas (villages - villages) facing each other on both sides of the border.

After 2 years of implementation, up to now, 18/18 pairs (villages - villages) on both sides of the border have been twinned. The pairs of villages have coordinated to organize propaganda on policies and laws in 327 sessions/6,540 participants, helping to raise awareness and national and border consciousness of the people on both sides of the border.
The officials and people on both sides of the border have actively coordinated to protect the status quo of the border, preserve the system of national border markers; coordinate to prevent illegal migration, illegal marriage and religious activities, and drug trafficking, transportation and use.

The cadres and people of the twinned villages regularly grasp the situation related to security and order, proactively and promptly exchange information on the situation, and at the same time coordinate to effectively combat and prevent border crossing activities, violations of territorial sovereignty, encroachment on resources, and environmental destruction on both sides of the border.
Communes and villages of Nghe An province have helped the neighboring villages with materials and funds worth over 200 million VND to buy trees, seedlings, and cultural institutions. Medical facilities of border communes and combined military-civilian medical stations of Nghe An Border Guard regularly help receive people from the border villages of Laos for examination and treatment.

At the conference, representatives of border districts and communes of Nghe An and the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolykhamxay gave their opinions to strengthen close coordination, organize the implementation in a systematic, in-depth, and practically effective manner of the signed contents, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety, and building a peaceful, friendly, and developed border.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Le Nhu Duc highly appreciated the achievements in organizing the twinning movement (village-village) on both sides of the border between Nghe An and the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolykhamxay in recent times. He emphasized that the current border situation still has many complicated developments, so the leaders of the border provinces and the border guards of the two countries need to strengthen cooperation, fight against hostile plots, maintain the Vietnam-Laos border of peace, friendship and development, and at the same time take care of the development of the material and spiritual life of the people on both sides of the border.
