The nine teenagers discovered included five girls aged 14-17 and four boys aged 15-17. They are believed to have been placed in care in Sussex.

Maria Caulfield, a local official, said that British security is being increased to control border areas in the context of the European immigration crisis. Nine Vietnamese teenagers were discovered at the French border with the UK. They showed signs of crossing into the UK.

According to this official, the children were in good health when they were discovered. However, she also said that if the truck had not been stopped for inspection, it is unclear how bad the situation could have been.
