(Baonghean.vn) - On September 22, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a public trial of Nguyen Van Thang, residing in Hong Tho hamlet, Nghia Hong commune, and Nguyen Trung Van, residing in Hamlet 6, Nghia Thinh commune, Nghia Dan district, for the crime of illegally possessing narcotics.

According to the indictment of the Nghia Dan District People's Procuracy: At approximately 9:00 AM on June 2, 2015, Nguyen Van Thang invited Nguyen Trung Van to go to Quy Hop District to buy heroin for personal use. After purchasing two packets of heroin from a man named Cuong for 400,000 VND, the two returned to Hamlet 10, Nghia Hung Commune, Nghia Dan District, where they were caught red-handed by the police. The evidence seized from the pockets of the two suspects included two packets of heroin weighing 0.5 grams.

At the trial, the defendants confessed to all their crimes. Based on the evidence, the prosecutor's opinion, and the defendants' statements, and applying Clause 1, Article 194 of the Penal Code, the Trial Panel decided to sentence defendants Nguyen Van Thang and Nguyen Trung Van each to 26 months imprisonment for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".
