(Baonghean.vn)- On November 12, Hung Nguyen District Police prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Van Binh (born in 1961), residing in Block 15, Hung Nguyen Town, for fraud and property appropriation.

Since the beginning of 2014, Hung Nguyen District Police have received many reports from people accusing Mr. Nguyen Van Binh of fraud and property appropriation in the form of "running errands" in the police force. Hung Nguyen District Police have established Project 1015LD to fight against this. After a period of investigation and collection of relevant evidence and documents, the District Police arrested and searched Nguyen Van Binh's house, seizing many fake seals and documents.

At the police station, Binh initially confessed to his actions and that he had appropriated about 300 million VND from a citizen. However, according to the citizen's accusation, the amount of money that Binh appropriated was up to billions of VND. With the trick of "running errands" for people in need, Binh used many fake decisions and admission papers with signatures and seals of high-ranking officials in the police force and then took the money for personal use. It is known that Binh had a previous conviction for fraud and appropriation of property and was sentenced to 30 months in prison by the Vinh City People's Court.
