Syrian rebels have just posted a video on the Internet recording the moment they shot down a Russian military helicopter rushing to the scene to rescue the pilots of the Su-24 plane that was recently shot down by Türkiye.

The video, uploaded to YouTube by a little-known militant group, shows gunmen claiming to have destroyed an “infidel” helicopter.

It comes after reports that Syrian rebels shot down a Russian military rescue helicopter.

A voice is heard in the video shouting "Allahu Akbar (God is great)" as the missile hits the plane and its remains are thrown into the air.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 10 people were on board the rescue helicopter when it was forced to land after being attacked by rebels. By the time the missile hit the helicopter, all those on board had escaped. They were reportedly rescued by the Syrian government army.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not respond to a Reuters call seeking comment on the helicopter.
