'Those who talk too much' speak bluntly but lack subtlety.

Amidst the controversy surrounding the talk show "Bitches in Town," representatives from the cultural authorities stated that they support all creative endeavors but emphasize the need for subtlety, understanding, humanity, and adherence to ethical principles.

Bitches in Town, a talk show hosted by MC Thùy Minh, stylist Lê Minh Ngọc, and young writer Nguyễn Ngọc Thạch, airs on YouTube and focuses on discussing artists and issues within the showbiz industry with the motto "fun is the main thing." However, many artists believe that the program's content (commenting on and judging their images and private lives) and its presentation (containing what are considered vulgar and offensive language in a joking manner) have hurt and offended them.

The Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Phan Dinh Tan, commented: "The emergence of such a program shows that this society is lacking a healthy entertainment environment where people, especially young people, can express their opinions, speak honestly as in everyday life, with less pretense, like a slice of life. That's why the program still has viewers."

However, Mr. Tan argued that the program organizers lacked subtlety and humanity. "Humor creates laughter in life, but overdoing it can become insult and offensive. Furthermore, the nature of 'Those Who Talk Too Much' doesn't rely on scripted dialogue but depends on the situation. The presenters inevitably lack sufficient information and knowledge to refine details that might be considered offensive while speaking. Therefore, many people feel hurt by their words."

From the artists' perspective, according to Mr. Tan, this is also an opportunity for them to reflect on themselves. "Some artists who were insulted in the program reacted very strongly. But I see that they themselves had insulted others before. This is a lesson, a mirror reflecting for everyone."

Mr. Tan affirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism always supports all creativity and new ideas in the cultural field, but the new must be good, creative, and engaging, based on knowledge and cultured behavior. "The West also has comedy programs that startle people, but upon reflection, they are just for fun and don't offend anyone. If we imitate them and think that's being authentic and creative, we're wrong, because that's just imitation of the surface. Creativity needs depth in education from one generation to the next, creating standards of cultural behavior."

He stated that the responsibility for investigating and handling online content violations rests with the Ministry of Information and Communications. Immediately after the incident was reported, the Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information Department and the Inspectorate under the Ministry of Information and Communications also intervened, reviewing the 20 episodes of the program that had already aired. The Department has not yet reached a conclusion, but representatives from the agencies all agree that any action against the program would require a complaint from the artists and those who were offended.

Following public controversy, the show's production team has temporarily suspended the program for a break. Speaking to VnExpress, MC Thùy Minh stated that, barring any interference from authorities, the team will release a new episode on December 4th.
