Provincial leaders work with the Working Group of 2 Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Sub-Committees

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 4, leaders of Nghe An province worked with two working delegations of the Vietnam -Democratic Republic of VietnamLaos.

The delegation of the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Sub-Committee was led by Comrade Nguyen Chi Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Sub-Committee. On the Lao side, the delegation was led by Comrade Kham-phoi Keo-kin-na-ly - Vice Chairman of the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Sub-Committee.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the two delegations.

Overview of the working session.

Nghe An has 6 districts with 27 communes located on the common border with 3 provinces of Lao PDR: Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan and Bolikhamxay. With 419.5 km, the border between Nghe An and the provinces of Laos accounts for more than 20% of the length of the Vietnam - Laos border.

In the first 9 months of 2015, Nghe An exported to the Lao market at 33,092 million USD, imported at 21,753 million USD. The province has implemented projects to serve economic and trade development such as: expanding and upgrading the border market project in Din Nam village, Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province; handing over and putting into use the Nam Can Trade Center, constructing a number of items of the project to level the ground of the inspection yard, the inter-sectoral control station, building the power supply and lighting system of Thanh Thuy Border Gate Economic Zone.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai reported on the socio-economic situation of Nghe An province and the cooperation situation between Nghe An and Laos.

The province has also directed units to proactively coordinate closely with functional forces of Laos to deploy measures to ensure border security, and direct the completion of 116/116 markers and 44 stakes.

In 2014 - 2015, the Martyrs' Grave Collection Team of the Provincial Military Command coordinated with the functional forces of Lao provinces to search, collect and organize the return of 77 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos to Vietnam for burial at the Do Luong District International Martyrs' Cemetery.

Comrade Nguyen Chi Dung proposed the provinceNghe An continues to actively implement cooperation tasks in the Program of the 2 Cooperation Sub-Committees of Vietnam - Lao PDR.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated Nghe An’s efforts in strengthening the friendship between the people of the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and Laos. He also hoped that the Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An province would continue to foster the friendly and close relationship between the two countries, contributing to building a peaceful and developed Vietnam-Laos border.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai presented a souvenir to the working delegation of the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Sub-Committee.

The delegation of the two countries' cooperation sub-committees presented souvenirs to Nghe An province.

He also requested Nghe An to continue actively implementing cooperation tasks in the Program of the two cooperation sub-committees of Vietnam - Lao PDR, especially the construction of Xieng Khouang Provincial Friendship Hospital.
