Stop importing "lean meat enhancers" for pork.
Salbutamol and clenbuterol are known pharmaceutical ingredients that are being misused in livestock farming (to promote lean meat production).
The Drug Administration Department (Ministry of Health) has just sent a document to the General Department of Customs, clearly stating that the import of Salbutamol and Clenbuterol raw materials is temporarily suspended until further notice.
The Drug Administration also requires companies to only use imported Salbutamol and Clenbuterol raw materials to manufacture drugs within their own companies or sell them to other companies with valid business licenses.
Companies must provide complete information regarding these two ingredients when requested by the authorities.
Recently, reports of the continuous detection of lean meat enhancers in pig farms in the South have caused great concern among consumers, as this is a widely consumed food product.
Clenbuterol and Salbutamol, originally used in medicine, are still widely used in Vietnam because they stimulate growth, preventing fat accumulation in pigs and promoting lean meat production, thus generating significant profits for farmers.
