Inauguration of the memorial stele house of Nguyen Tham Hoa Phan Thuc Truc

(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Phan Thuc Truc High School, on the afternoon of November 14, Phan Thuc Truc High School held the inauguration ceremony of the memorial stele of Nguyen Tham Hoa Phan Thuc Truc.

Attending the ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; representatives of the Institute of Han Nom Studies; leaders of the District Party Committee - District People's Committee; representatives of the Phan Thuc family (Khanh Thanh commune - Yen Thanh) and many generations of teachers and students of the school.

Cultural celebrity Dinh Nguyen Tham Hoa Phan Thuc Truc was born in 1808, in Van Tu commune, Dong Thanh district (now Khanh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district), coming from a Confucian family. In the 5th year of Thieu Tri (1841), he passed the Bachelor's exam. In the 7th year of Thieu Tri (1847), under the reign of King Nguyen Hien To, he passed the First Class Doctorate exam, ranked 3rd in the Dinh Mui exam (Tham Hoa).

With his talent and virtue, Phan Thuc Truc took on many important responsibilities in the Nguyen Dynasty court, such as: Han Lam Vien Truoc Tac, Tap Hien Vien Thi Giang, Kinh Dien Khoi Cu Chu. In 1852, after his death, Phan Thuc Truc was awarded the title of Thi Giang Hoc Si, and was given the four words "Hoc cao hanh thuan" by the king.

As a talented writer, he was praised by many mandarins of his time and awarded by the king many times. The poems and prose written by Phan Thuc Truc and the works compiled by him are still preserved at the Institute of Han Nom Studies. They are valuable documents, recording the process of building and defending the country as well as the political, economic, military, diplomatic, cultural, educational, and religious activities of the Vietnamese people over thousands of years of history. With his contributions to the country's history and national culture, Phan Thuc Truc deserves to be called an outstanding Han Nom author of the Nguyen Dynasty, his life and career will forever be honored by posterity.

The construction of a memorial stele at the school that is honored to be named after the cultural celebrity Dinh Nguyen Tham Hoa Phan Thuc Truc is a meaningful work, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" to commemorate his merits, talent and virtue, aiming to educate the tradition in the school and local people.
