Murder leaves 4 casualties: The perpetrator has mental symptoms

The Director of Quang Binh Provincial Police said that the person who committed the murder that left four people injured and dead showed symptoms of mental illness.

On the morning of October 14, residents of Ba Don ward, Ba Don town, Quang Binh province were shocked to hear that a family had 2 dead and 2 injured people being taken to the emergency room.

The incident happened at around 1 a.m. this morning (October 14), at the house of Ms. Lam Thi Ninh, 82 years old, in Quarter 4, Ba Don Ward, Ba Don Town, Quang Binh Province.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan, 39 years old, after getting drunk, used a switchblade to stab his wife Lam Thi Ly, 36 years old, many times. Hearing the noise, Nguyen Hoai Nam, 12 years old, son of Mr. Hoan and Ms. Lam Thi Ly, ran in and was stabbed twice in the ribs by Mr. Hoan.

At the same time, Ms. Lam Thi Ninh, Hoan's mother, went out to see what was happening and was stabbed in the chest, neck and back by Hoan, causing Ms. Ninh to die on the spot.

After committing the crime, Nguyen Cong Hoan stabbed himself many times in an attempt to commit suicide.

As a result, Nguyen Cong Hoan and Lam Thi Ninh died on the spot, while Lam Thi Ly and her daughter were injured and taken to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment.

By noon today, Ms. Ly was out of danger and was gradually recovering. Nguyen Hoai Nam, who was slightly injured, was taken to Bac Quang Binh General Hospital for treatment.

Major General Tu Hong Son, Director of Quang Binh Provincial Police, said Nguyen Cong Hoan has symptoms of mental illness.

“Hoan has mild mental illness but it is also due to alcohol consumption. He has been mentally ill many times and the whole village knows about it. He has mental illness but not to the point of being sent to a mental hospital,” said Major General Tu Hong Son./.
