A low-cost flight route between Vinh and Nha Trang is about to open.

(Baonghean.vn) - Jetstar Pacific, a Vietnamese low-cost airline, has started selling tickets for its new route from Vinh (Nghe An) to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) starting December 15th.

With three round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using a modern Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 all-economy seats.

Regarding the Vinh - Nha Trang route in particular, according to travel agencies, there is a huge demand from tourists in the North Central region for tours to Nha Trang. However, due to inconvenient transportation, the increase in tour packages has been somewhat limited. According to a survey by the Department of Transport, the demand for travel from Nghe An to Khanh Hoa is quite high. In 2014 alone, there were 11,425 tourist arrivals; 8,500 train passengers; and an average of 31,000 passengers per year traveling by fixed-route buses. It is projected that 7,000 passengers will travel by private or official vehicles annually. This does not include the number of passengers traveling from Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh provinces to Khanh Hoa. “Nghe An and Khanh Hoa provinces are cultural, tourism, and economic centers of their respective regions. Opening this flight route will leverage the strengths and potential of the two provinces' existing economies, tourism, culture, and society. Currently, tourism companies in the area have already implemented tourism programs between Nghe An and Khanh Hoa and vice versa. Nghe An wishes to cooperate with Khanh Hoa in areas where both provinces have needs and potential for exploitation. With the tourism, economic, cultural, and social potential of the North Central region and the advantages of Nghe An and Khanh Hoa provinces, opening a direct flight route from Vinh to Nha Trang is absolutely essential,” said Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at a recent working session chaired by the Provincial People's Committee to prepare for the flight route opening.

It should also be added that Nha Trang is a year-round tourist destination. Opening the Vinh – Nha Trang flight route not only diversifies products for tourists from the North Central region but, conversely, also creates opportunities for travel businesses in Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, and Binh Thuan to visit President Ho Chi Minh's birthplace, and combine Cua Lo tourism with trips to Laos and Northeast Thailand; transforming Vinh City into a gateway for Laos and Thailand tourism routes for travel companies in the South Central region.

During a meeting with Jetstar Pacific, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien emphasized: Besides developing tourism, attracting investment is also being actively promoted by Nghe An province and has yielded many important results. In the future, Nghe An hopes to cooperate with Khanh Hoa province in areas where both provinces have needs and potential for exploitation. Therefore, opening the Vinh - Nha Trang route is a favorable condition for Nghe An to develop its economy and tourism in the coming time. The province is committed to creating the best possible conditions for the Vinh - Nha Trang route to operate effectively. He requested that Jetstar Pacific's Northern branch study and arrange suitable flight schedules, improve flight service quality, and provide the best possible service to passengers.
