Government and police offices in southern Thailand attacked

Muslim separatists launched an attack on police and a government office in southern Thailand on December 29, killing at least one officer and taking several hostages, police said.

More than 10 gunmen dressed in black have taken 13 civilian employees hostage at a local government office in Narathiwat province. The head of the office was killed.
