According to a survey released today by ORB International, the British people are increasingly in favor of the country leaving the European Union. Excluding those who are undecided, 54% of the British people want to leave the European Union.
The UK survey results contrast sharply with those of 14 other EU countries, also conducted by ORB International. About 64% of respondents in the 14 surveys said they wanted to stay in the EU. About 17% of respondents said they felt more familiar with the EU in the past 12 months.
The number of people who prefer to use the euro is lowest in the UK, with only 6% wanting the euro as their national currency. While surveys in other countries show that 41% of respondents prefer to use the euro and 47% want to use their own currency.
British Prime Minister David Cameron is currently seeking to change the terms of Britain's role in the European Union. He has also announced that he will hold a referendum on Britain's EU membership by the end of 2017.
