Prolonged cold in China has caused a decrease in agricultural exports through Tan Thanh border gate.

On average, Tan Thanh border gate (Van Lang, Lang Son) clears 250 vehicles per day. In recent days, the number has decreased slightly, specifically on the 22nd, Tan Thanh Customs completed procedures for 274 vehicles, on the 23rd, 198 vehicles, on the 24th, 227 vehicles, and on the 25th, 217 vehicles were exported.

Tan Thanh Customs Branch said that in China there is a snowstorm, the temperature drops sharply, traffic is difficult and the ports in the neighboring country are limited, so the amount of goods exported here is slower than usual. On the other hand, at the end of the year, agricultural products such as watermelon and dragon fruit are in season, so the amount of goods concentrated at the border gate increases.

Currently, there are about 300 vehicles still stuck, waiting for customs clearance. Mr. Tam, the owner of the vehicle from Vinh Long, said that his watermelon truck had just arrived here this morning and was waiting in line for his turn to go through customs clearance.

“Although it's cold and the low temperature makes the melons not as prone to rotting as in the summer, I'm still worried and want the goods to be exported quickly, but if it's not my turn yet, I have to wait,” he said.

Ms. Dang Thi Ngan, Deputy Head of Tan Thanh Customs Branch, said that she has arranged staff to provide maximum support to businesses to quickly complete export procedures to reduce losses, especially for agricultural products of businesses.
