Vietnam ranks 29th in the world in terms of military potential.
At the World Economic Forum being held in Davos, Switzerland, the US magazine USNews and World Report published a list of the most powerful countries in the world in terms of military potential.

In this list, the US is at the top with its annual military spending accounting for 3.5% of GDP. It is known that the US Congress and President Obama recently signed into law the US military budget spending bill for 2016. Accordingly, the US military budget for 2016 will be quite high (over 600 billion USD).
Second on the list is the Russian Army, with Russia spending 4.5% of its GDP on military needs.
China's military ranks third on this list, with military spending accounting for 2.1% of GDP.
Also in the top 10 of this list are the armies of Germany, Britain, France, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea.
According to USNews and World Report, with a population of more than 90 million people and a GDP of 171 billion USD, the Vietnamese Army ranks 29th on this list.
It is known that USNews and World Report cooperated with BAV Consulting and the University of Pennsylvania. Specific figures were cited from the results of public opinion polls conducted in 36 countries around the world.
