Nearly 21,000 expired cars will be confiscated from circulation.
The Director of the Vietnam Register said that after reviewing expired vehicles and reports from motor vehicle inspection centers, the total number of vehicles that have expired since January 1, 2016 is 20,994.

The Department has requested vehicle inspection centers nationwide to provide data to the Traffic Police Department, Department of Transport, and Traffic Inspectorates of provinces and cities, and proactively coordinate with patrol forces to conduct inter-sectoral inspections to control on the road, handle violators, and confiscate vehicles according to Decree 171.
According to regulations, cargo vehicles manufactured in 1985, passenger vehicles originally manufactured in 1990 and passenger vehicles converted before January 1, 2002 will be banned from operating on the road.
