Distributing 18 tons of rice to households contracted to protect forests

(Baonghean.vn) - Continuing to implement Decision No. 2621 of the Prime Minister on amending and supplementing some levels of production development support for districts 30a, Pu Hoat Nature Reserve has just distributed rice to poor households in Nam Giai commune, Que Phong district.

Nam Giai commune has 5,141 hectares of special-use forests and upstream forests, which have been assigned to 307 poor households. Along with receiving annual forest protection contract money, each poor household also received about 50 kg of rice from the forest protection contract program.

Nam Giai is a poor commune, life mainly depends on agricultural and forestry production, combined with the damage caused by the historic flood in 2007, life is very difficult. Therefore, along with participating in forest protection, being supported with rice and money from forest protection contracts will help people partly solve food difficulties, while ensuring the preservation and protection of upstream forests.
