A video has emerged showing ISIS threatening to attack New York.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) announced on November 18 that it had discovered a new video from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization showing America's most populous city as a potential target.
The video emerged just days after ISIS claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks in France that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 300 others.
In the nearly six-minute video, ISIS issued a threat to New York City, including a scene of a suicide bomber preparing to put on a bomb-laden leather jacket.

The footage also includes brief glimpses of Times Square and Herald Square – areas that attract many tourists. Most of the remaining footage features scenes in the French capital, Paris, and French President Francois Hollande.
NYPD spokesperson Steve Davis said that while there was no "new or specific threat" and some of the footage was old, New York City police remain highly vigilant and are coordinating with the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the intelligence community to ensure the safety of citizens. In addition, police will continue to deploy additional counterterrorism teams throughout the city.
The day before, Police Chief Bill Bratton also expressed concern that New York City could witness a series of coordinated terrorist attacks similar to those in Paris, France.
He stated that in order to respond promptly to terrorist attacks, the NYPD has increased the number of officers in its counterterrorism unit by 500, and increased patrols and presence at key locations based on the assumption of a real threat.
The NYPD also established a new counterterrorism unit called the "Critical Response Command," with 125 members. This response unit consists of the "elite" of the counterterrorism force and will be equipped with specialized vehicles and heavy weaponry. By the end of 2015, this response unit will have a total of 560 members.
