National Assembly passes Resolution on socio-economic development in 2016

On the 17th working day of the 10th session (November 10), the National Assembly will pass a Resolution on the 2016 socio-economic development plan. The working session will be broadcast live on radio and television.

Previously, at the opening session of the 10th session of the 13th National Assembly (October 20), Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung presented the Government's Report on the socio-economic situation in 2015 and the five years 2011-2015; directions and tasks for the five years 2016-2020 and 2016.

Accordingly, the general goal for the 2016 socio-economic development plan is to ensure macroeconomic stability and strive for higher economic growth than in 2015.

The economic growth rate (GDP) in 2016 reached 6.7%; GDP per capita was about 2,450 USD. The consumer price index (CPI) in 2016 increased by less than 5%.

The proportion of industry and services in GDP is over 85%. Total social investment capital in 5 years and 2016 is about 31% of GDP. State budget deficit in 2016 is 4.95% of GDP.

In terms of society, the rate of trained workers in 2016 reached 53%. The unemployment rate in urban areas was below 4%.

In the health sector, the target for 2016 is 24.5 beds/10,000 people. The health insurance coverage rate in 2016 is 76%. The rate of malnourished children under 5 years old in 2016 is below 13.8%.

The poverty rate in 2016 decreased by about 1.3-1.5%; in poor districts and communes, it decreased by 4%. The average housing area per capita in 2016 reached 22.6 m2…

From the above objectives, the Government Report also proposes important groups of solutions for implementation.

At this session, on November 2-3, National Assembly deputies discussed the Government's Report.

In today's session, before the National Assembly voted, Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Nguyen Van Giau presented the draft Report on receiving, revising and explaining the draft Resolution.
