Stop collecting corporate taxes in cash from December
Commercial banks will no longer accept businesses paying taxes in cash, only accepting electronic tax payments, starting next December.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, said that up to 98% of businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have registered to pay taxes electronically, but the amount of tax paid electronically is only about 14,000 billion VND, quite small compared to the more than 100,000 billion VND in tax payable. Talking to many businesses, we understand that they are still psychologically hesitant, not bold enough to use electronically, only "cautiously" trying to pay electronically with small taxes, a few million VND, for fear of incidents.

“Many directors shared that they were also... afraid that the chief accountant would take advantage of them, so they did not dare to give their digital signature to the chief accountant. The solution that the Tax Department encourages is for businesses to register two digital signatures, register a separate bank account specifically for electronic tax payment, and not allow cash withdrawals or transfers anywhere,” said Mr. Tam.
There is no such thing as all the businesses pressing the electronic tax payment button at the same time. Therefore, there is no need to worry about network congestion or any problems. In particular, the tax payment notification is also very light in data so it does not slow down the connection. Regarding the time of "forcing" electronic tax payment from December 1, Mr. Tam said that businesses should overcome the psychological barrier and boldly pay electronic tax. Ho Chi Minh City has about 170,000 companies, usually 30% of units have value added tax, about 30% have corporate income tax to pay.
In parallel with the request to the People's Committees of provinces and cities, the Ministry of Finance also issued an official dispatch requesting the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to support propaganda and mobilize businesses to register and pay taxes electronically for all arising taxes.
Mr. Le Van Khuong, Head of the Tax Department of District 3 (HCMC), said that only a few units, especially newly established enterprises, do not understand much about electronic tax payment so they have not registered. The department has coordinated with banks to support enterprises to register for electronic tax payment right at the department until the end of November.
