Hanoi City People's Committee has a new Chairman

With a majority of votes in favor, Major General Nguyen Duc Chung, Director of Hanoi Police, was elected Chairman of the City People's Committee.

This morning, on the fourth working day, the Hanoi People's Council elected the head of the city's People's Committee for the new term 2016-2020. Introduced to this position, Director of Hanoi Police Nguyen Duc Chung received a vote of confidence from 87 delegates (94.56%).

Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung was elected Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee.

At the recent Hanoi Party Congress, Mr. Chung was elected Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and was approved by his superiors to be nominated by the City People's Council to be elected Chairman of the People's Committee.

The new Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee at that time believed that the trust of delegates and people in the police force over the years was the biggest advantage when he took on the new job. “Everyone has difficulties, but the trust of the people will help me overcome the challenges in the new term,” said Mr. Chung.

Mr. Nguyen The Thao is the first delegate to vote for the new Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee.

Mr. Chung is 48 years old this year, from Kinh Mon, Hai Duong, is a senior investigator, doctor of law, bachelor of economics. He was awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces when he was only 37 years old.

During many years working at the Department of Investigation of Social Order Crimes (Hanoi Police), Mr. Chung successively held the positions of Deputy Director, then Director, Deputy Director of the City Police, and Head of the Investigation Police Agency. In September 2012, he was appointed Director of the Hanoi Police.

The predecessor of new Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, Mr. Nguyen The Thao, was elected Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee for two terms (from 2007-2015).
