Barca pillar admits he is ready to go to Man City because of Guardiola

Defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets has revealed he would be honoured to play under manager Pep Guardiola again.

Busquets is currently a key midfielder for Barca, with his current contract running until June 2019. But he recently left open the possibility of reuniting with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

The Catalan coach was the man who helped the 27-year-old develop his career at the Nou Camp in 2008, bringing him up to the first team from Barca B. And Busquets admits Guardiola is one of the few people in the world who could convince him to leave Barca.

The 45-year-old coach will replace Manuel Pellegrini, leading Man City from next season. Pep's reputation, talent along with the financial strength of the Manchester club can attract many of the world's top stars.

“I have always said that there are only two people who can make me change my mind about staying at Barcelona. One is my wife. And right now she is happy here, so I don’t think there will be any personal problems,” Busquets told ESPN.

He continued: “On the sporting side, the only person who could lure me away from Barca is Guardiola. Obviously I owe Pep a lot, and I would feel honored to work with him again.”

However, Busquets also believes that Pep may not convince him to join Man City: "Pep knows that Barca is my club, and it was also his club. He knows that it would be best for Barca and for me personally if I stayed at the Nou Camp. So I don't think he will ask me to leave Barca to go to my new team Man City."

The midfielder also dreams of becoming a legend at the Nou Camp: “I hope that when I finish my playing career, I will go down in history as a great Barca player, with many titles and excellent performances. I also want to be one of the players who played the most matches for Barca.”

Busquets has made 365 appearances for Barca's first team, scoring 12 goals, and won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues with the team.
