Foreign Minister Anifah Aman stated that Malaysia warmly welcomes the establishment of the ASEAN Community. He emphasized that this will further support community building and regional integration, as well as the fulfillment of commitments under the ASEAN Community Vision after 2025 and the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2025: Moving Forward Together.
Earlier, at the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Kuala Lumpur on August 6th, the Ministers reaffirmed ASEAN's commitment to continuing efforts toward building a politically cohesive, economically integrated, and socially responsible ASEAN Community by the end of this year. The ASEAN Vision after 2015 will guide the Community's activities for the next 10 years.
The conference also agreed on a vision that, building on the achievements already made, ASEAN will continue its process of building the bloc, promoting deeper and more comprehensive integration, and close cooperation in all fields.

The ASEAN Community will truly be people-centered, as reflected in the theme of the final year of ASEAN's journey towards the Common Community: "Our People, Our Community, Our Vision." This will involve strengthening relations with partners to secure ASEAN's support and assistance in the community-building process, while upholding ASEAN's central role and responsibility on the international stage, thereby enhancing ASEAN's prestige and influence.
