(Baonghean) - Since 2011, hundreds of households in the province have applied the VietGAHP livestock farming process, yielding high efficiency. However, farmers following the VietGAHP process still have concerns about the safety of these clean products.

The pig farm of Mr. Pham Van Vien's family in Nam Tan hamlet, Giang Son Dong commune (Do Luong district) is one of 60 households raising pigs according to VietGAHP standards.

Mr. Pham Van Vien said: “By participating in the VietGAHP-compliant livestock farming group, and receiving training on biosafety farming practices, every batch of pigs in my family has been healthy for the past three years. Waste is treated using three biogas digesters, so the 130 pigs I am raising have minimal environmental pollution.”

However, Mr. Vien, like many other pig farmers following the VietGAHP technology process, is still concerned and worried because the market demand for clean products is not yet commensurate with their needs.

The project aims to promote sustainable growth in the livestock industry and food safety in animal products, minimize environmental pollution, and create a safe product chain from farm to table, contributing to improving the lives of the community.

The Dinh Sy Market in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, received investment from the Lifsap project in 2012, creating an area for selling fresh food that ensures food safety and hygiene. In the future, this area will become a consumption point for pork products raised according to VietGAHP standards in the locality.

Mr. Luu Cong Hoa – Head of the Livestock Department – Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: Phase 1 of the project has basically confirmed the effectiveness of livestock farmers following the VietGAHP process. To address the bottleneck in the output of VietGAHP food products, Phase 2, from 2016 to 2020, the project focuses on product consumption. This aims to bring VietGAHP pork and chicken eggs into supermarkets, retail outlets in the city, and rural markets that have been invested in and built according to regulations on safe food markets. To achieve this, first of all, cooperatives will be established to consume the products, while also providing breeding stock, feed, and veterinary services, creating a clean product chain.
