(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, the water level at dams in Nghe An is too low, indicating a risk of water shortage for production in the spring crop and the upcoming summer-autumn crop.

According to the provincial Irrigation Department, the rainy season has ended but the rainfall and water resources in reservoirs, rivers and streams are lower than the average of many years. Currently, 3/50 reservoirs managed by enterprises have reached capacity, the rest only reach 35-50% of capacity. The reservoirs managed by localities have only reached 40-60% of the design capacity (some districts have reservoirs with capacity below 40% of the design capacity such as: Do Luong 35%;Male30% herd.

To ensure irrigation water supply for production in 2016, the Irrigation Department requires units and organizations managing and exploiting irrigation works to properly implement the following contents: Develop specific and detailed drought prevention plans for each region to proactively respond when drought occurs (especially in the end of the canal, semi-mountainous areas and mountainous areas).

Localities and units should review and rebalance the water situation to develop a suitable spring irrigation plan. Do not plant in areas that cannot be irrigated throughout the season, and have a plan to change the crop structure in areas where reservoirs cannot provide irrigation water. Maintain the deployment of irrigation to clear the flow, dredge canals, and sluice gates of reservoir systems.
