Attacking football reigned supreme for Real Madrid on the day new coach Zinedine Zidane made his debut at the Bernabeu, though it was a shame that their biggest star, Ronaldo, couldn't contribute to the 5-0 victory against Deportivo on the morning of January 9th.

Former star Zinedine Zidane didn't really need to do much other than help revive the demoralized Real Madrid squad during the time under his predecessor Rafael Benitez. With some of the world's most expensive stars at his disposal, Zidane had no difficulty securing his first victory once he managed to mend the extremely loose relationships both in the dressing room and on the pitch.

Deportivo quickly demonstrated their tenacious play with Luis Alberto's shot narrowly missing the crossbar in the opening minutes. Shortly after, from a cross by Juanfran, Faycal Fajr unleashed a powerful shot that forced Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas into a difficult save. Lucas Perez then further troubled Navas with a thunderous shot in the 11th minute.

The opening goal of the match came in the 15th minute for the home team, although it was controversial. Gareth Bale was offside when Benzema put the ball into the net after Real Madrid were awarded a corner kick. The score was doubled 7 minutes later when Dani Carvajal delivered a cross for Bale to head home.

The Welsh player scored two consecutive goals in the 49th and 63rd minutes to complete his hat-trick in this match. It's highly likely Bale won't leave this season; in fact, he could become an important part of new manager Zidane's plans.

Benzema also scored a crucial brace.

Benzema sealed Real Madrid's 5-0 victory with a 91st-minute goal, bringing Zinedine Zidane his first win after just four days of training with the team. Three points at this point are invaluable, but more importantly, they have restored a sense of optimism for Ronaldo and his teammates at the Bernabeu. With this spirit, it would be no surprise if Real Madrid continue to impress in their upcoming La Liga and Champions League challenges.
