According to the program of the 12th Party Congress, on the afternoon of January 23, the Congress will discuss key personnel work. Specifically, the 11th Central Executive Committee will report on the personnel work of the 12th Central Executive Committee before delegates discuss and vote on the number of members of the new Central Executive Committee.

The number of official Central Committee members this time is expected to increase by 5 people compared to the 11th Congress, representing more than 4.5 million Party members nationwide.

In addition to electing 180 official Central Committee members, the congress is expected to elect 20 alternate members.

Before the 12th National Congress, the 11th Party Central Committee discussed very carefully through conferences and approved the draft report on personnel work of the 12th Party Central Committee to submit to the Congress; reached high consensus by secret ballot to nominate personnel for the positions of General Secretary, President, Prime Minister, and National Assembly Chairman for the 2016-2021 term for the 12th Party Central Committee to consider and introduce to the 14th National Assembly for decision in accordance with the provisions of law.
