(Baonghean.vn) - Thanks to favorable weather after a 3 to 4 day offshore trip, many fishermen in Tien Thuy (Quynh Luu) have had a big catch of dozens of tons of anchovy worth hundreds of millions of dong.

After the warm days of celebrating the Year of the Monkey with family and relatives, around the 3rd and 4th day of the Lunar New Year, many fishing boats of fishermen in Tien Thuy commune (Quynh Luu) set sail to welcome the first sea luck of the year.

On the morning of the 8th and 9th of Tet, at Lach Quen fishing port in Tien Thuy commune (Quynh Luu), dozens of boats and ships came ashore in the joy of victory of the first fishing trip of the year. On average, each boat, after 2-3 days of fishing, caught 6-10 tons of fish, mainly anchovies and spotted fish. Notably, the fishing boat of fisherman Ho Van Tien - in Phong Thang village, caught nearly 10 tons of white anchovies and sold them for nearly 100 million VND. After deducting all expenses, each crew member earned 4-5 million VND. Currently, with the price of anchovies purchased by traders at the port being quite high, grade 1 anchovies cost from 15-16 thousand VND/kg, black anchovies cost from 10-11 thousand VND/kg, spotted fish ranged from 14-17 thousand VND/kg.

Having hit the jackpot, the boat owners' families had to use rudimentary vehicles to transport the products.

Thanks to the successful first fishing trip of the year, local fishermen have more motivation to prepare fishing gear, fuel, ice, food and provisions to continue going offshore, with the hope that in 2016, Tien Thuy fishermen in particular and fishermen in Quynh Luu district in general will have a bumper year./.
