Students sell scrap metal, wrap Tet banh chung to give to poor children in fishing village
(Baonghean.vn) - With the desire to help poor children have a full and joyful Lunar New Year. Students of the "Young Intellectuals of Vinh City" Club organized the "Tet Smoke" Banh Chung Festival to help poor children and celebrate Tet with them at the Noc Xom Van Chai group (Vinh City, Nghe An).
Since early December, the Club has called on students in the school and divided some people into collecting scrap metal, while others went to sell mango salad to prepare money to wrap banh chung. After many days of launching and calling, the students have donated nearly 100 banh chung, more than 2 million VND in cash and many clothes.

These banh chung are all made by more than 20 volunteers. All the steps from asking for firewood, washing leaves, wrapping the cakes, scooping the cakes... After cooking the cakes, they will go together to Noc hamlet to give them to children in difficult circumstances.
Nguyen Ha Giang, vice president of the club, said: “I find this a very meaningful and interesting program. This is the first time in my life that I have wrapped Chung cakes by myself. I have wrapped 5 cakes by myself. Although they are not really beautiful, when I think about the products I made being delivered to poor children, I feel very happy.”

Not only culturally and humanely meaningful, the program “wrapping green Chung cakes with poor children to celebrate Tet” is an opportunity for many Union members and young people studying and living in Nghe An province to learn more about the traditional Vietnamese New Year. This is a meaningful volunteer activity not only for the recipients, but also for students in the “Young Intellectuals of Vinh City” Club to understand and appreciate the value of life.

Although the material value is not much, it is the feelings of sharing with the unfortunate lives. Hopefully, the banh chung that you wrap will, more or less, bring to the less fortunate children a warmer Lunar New Year, so that they can see that there are still many people who care and share with them.
It is known that the cakes and small gifts made by you will be given to poor children and some families at Noc house in Van Chai village on the upcoming January 30 (solar calendar).
