Quy Chau: Promoting the role of village elders
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 9, Quy Chau District Party Committee held a meeting with village elders and prestigious people among ethnic minorities in 2016.
Attending the conference were representatives of district-level departments, branches, and organizations and 39 typical delegates representing 142 village elders and prestigious people among ethnic minorities in the district.

Over the past year, village elders and prestigious people have always followed the example of building solidarity in each residential area; mobilizing people to fight and eliminate social evils and providing the police with 387 sources of information to denounce crimes, of which 232 were valuable sources.
At the same time, coordinate well in implementing the movement to build cultural families, cultural villages and hamlets. Currently, the whole district has 118/146 cultural villages and hamlets, with 8,091 cultural families, reaching a rate of 54.6%...
Village elders and prestigious people also encouraged their descendants and clans to actively study, increase production labor, and apply scientific and technological advances in livestock and crop farming. Typical examples include Mr. Lo Van Tam in Binh 1 village, Chau Binh commune, with the movement to mobilize descendants, clans, and villages to plant forests; Mr. Luong Van Chung and Mrs. Lo Thi Nga in Hoa Tien 2 village, Chau Tien commune, encouraged people to restore the traditional weaving profession. Currently, Hoa Tien 2 village has become a brocade weaving village, creating many jobs and increasing income for people in the village; Mr. Lang Han in Na Ca village, Chau Hanh commune, a Thai language teacher, encouraged ethnic minority descendants to learn and write Thai.
At the conference, Quy Chau District Party Committee presented gifts to 39 village elders and prestigious people with outstanding achievements in the movement "doing many good deeds"./.
