Nghe An: 148 enterprises participate in export activities

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 7, under the chairmanship of comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize import and export work in 2015.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in 2015, Nghe An had 148 enterprises participating in export activities, achieving a total turnover of 705.17 million USD, exceeding the annual plan target by 28.2% (550 million USD). Of which, the export turnover of goods was 463.2 million USD; foreign currency earning services (tourism and maritime transport) reached 11.9 million USD; and labor export reached 230 million USD.

In 2015, enterprises in the province exported over 30 products of all kinds to foreign markets, of which 2 products achieved a turnover of over 95 million USD; 9 products achieved a turnover of 10 - 50 million USD.

Enterprises in the province have exported goods to 66 countries. Some major markets are China, Korea, Laos... In 2015, 36 enterprises exported goods to the Chinese market, accounting for 43.9% of the total turnover of goods in the province, with 11 types of products.

In 2015, 121 enterprises participated in import activities, reaching a turnover of nearly 385 million USD, mainly machinery, equipment, raw materials, fertilizers, wood of all kinds... serving production and processing for export.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Dai spoke and suggested that in order to increase export turnover, it is necessary to increase the creation of goods sources and focus on maintaining credibility in export activities.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of enterprises, departments, and local authorities in exceeding the planned export turnover targets. Import-export activities in the province have ensured production needs and people's consumption needs, contributing to increasing budget revenue as well as creating jobs for workers in the province.

However, the province's export turnover is still modest, the average export turnover per capita is still low compared to the national average. In 2016, the export turnover target in the province is 680 million USD, to complete the planned target, it is necessary to promote production and processing of goods, creating a rich source of export goods and services.
