Japan to loosen visa regulations for Vietnamese tourists

Japan's Yomiuri newspaper reported on March 30 that the Japanese government will implement a plan to relax visa regulations for citizens of five countries, including Vietnam.

This is an effort to increase the number of tourists coming to Japan in the coming time. According to the Yomiuri newspaper, the focus of the plan to relax visa regulations is tourists from five countries including China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Russia and Vietnam.

It is expected that this plan will be decided at the meeting "Planning the vision for future tourism development in Japan" held on March 30 with the participation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

According to official figures, of the total 19.47 million international visitors to Japan in 2015, 5.61 million were from the above five countries (accounting for 28.4%).

In its tourism promotion plan, the Japanese Government has identified focusing on potential markets, improving the environment to attract tourists, including implementing strategic measures to loosen visa requirements to enter Japan.

In addition, the Japanese Government has also implemented a number of measures such as increasing the number of locations covered by free wifi and allowing popular public transportation services in Japan to accept online reservations from foreign tourists.

The Japanese government also set a goal that by 2020 the Land of Cherry Blossoms will welcome 5 million cruise tourists./.
