Thuy Diem had her wedding dress altered three times because of continuous weight loss.
The last time the waist of the ao dai was tightened according to the bride's measurements was 57 cm.
Two elaborately designed "ton sur ton" ao dai sets were the highlight of the April 12 wedding of Luong The Thanh andThuy Diem.
Initially, designer Anh Thu made another ao dai in a shimmering bronze color. But two weeks ago, Thuy Diem wanted the overall theme of the wedding to be a fairytale style, inspired by the romantic love story of Cinderella.

Because the bride requested a change of outfit, two new ao dai sets were rushed to be made within 10 days. During the design process, Anh Thu had to tighten the waistline three times, most recently the day before the ancestral ceremony. "I had to adjust the waistline down to 57 cm because Thuy Diem was getting thinner and thinner during the wedding preparation. I joked that she was fit enough to be a model."
At the bride's request, the designer combined three materials: brocade, mesh, and lace with the highlight being the rose motif.During the sewing process, the most difficult thing was to find a way to overcome the inconsistency in the stiffness of the three materials. The designer decided to create three different layers depending on the position. The sleeves only have one layer of mesh, the front body is two layers thick, but the skirt combines three layers to create a puffy appearance like an evening gown.
The mirror-shaped embroidery pattern, placed in the middle of the ao dai, both front and back, symbolizes Cinderella's dream of happiness. The groom's wedding ao dai is the same color as the bride's, embroidered with symmetrical patterns but without sequins. All are in a bronze-colored ceramic glaze. In particular, the bride's hand-held flowers and hairpins are also specially designed to match the tone of the ceremony and wedding invitations.
The groom's family hasThe special requirement was that the wedding flowers must be used from the wedding procession in Saigon to the ancestral ceremony in Tien Giang. Therefore, the team decided to make fake wedding flowers from jewelry accessories to increase creativity.
