The truth about vegetable oil being good for health
Eating vegetable oils reduces the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol in the body, but does not reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease or increase longevity.
According to Fox News, many previous studies have shown that polyunsaturated fats in vegetable oils are good for health. Based on that, many people have changed their habits, using soybean, corn, and olive oils instead of animal fats. However, it turns out that these projects were never conducted according to standards but only randomly examined on a number of volunteers to find out how food and fat affect the body.
Recently, Dr. Christopher Ramsden from the US National Institutes of Health tested the benefits of vegetable oil and found that low cholesterol levels from consuming vegetable oil do not increase longevity.

"In fact, people who reduce their cholesterol too much are more likely to die early," said Dr. Ramsden. He and his colleagues divided 9,400 people aged 20-97 into two groups: one group ate corn oil and corn butter, the other group continued to eat animal fat. After switching to a vegetable oil diet, the first group's cholesterol levels dropped by nearly 14%, but there were no significant positive changes in health.
In fact, the American Heart Association recommends that total serum cholesterol (including triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol) be less than 180 mg/dL as ideal. For every 30 mg/dL drop, a person’s risk of death increases by 22%. Additionally, vegetable oils have no effect on atherosclerosis.
Dr. Lennert Veerman, a public health researcher at the University of Queensland (Australia), said that more research is needed to determine which type of fat is best. "We should focus on limiting trans fats, sugar, and salt and eating a diet rich in vegetables, whole grains, seafood, lean meat, eggs, beans, and nuts," Veerman said. Ultimately, whether vegetable oils benefit your blood vessels or not, you don't need to stop using them because there is no solid evidence that vegetable oils are harmful.
