Trial of 4 human traffickers in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 14, at the hall of the People's Committee of Tri Le commune, Que Phong district, Nghe An Provincial People's Court held a mobile trial of 2 cases of Human Trafficking.

*According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province, in mid-November 2015, Ha Thi Thuy and Luong Thi Tuyet, both residing in Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district, called Tran Thi Ty (born 1972) in Tuong Duong to ask her to take them to China to find work.

The jury sentenced Tran Thi Ty to 4 years in prison and Luong Thi Van to 2 years and 6 months in prison.

After accepting the offer, Ty contacted Luong Thi Van (born in 1972), residing in Yen Hoa commune (Tuong Duong) to negotiate bringing people to China to be sold as wives. If successful, the two would receive 2 million VND.

On November 19, Ty took Thuy and Tuyet to Vinh city to meet Van to negotiate to take them to China to be sold as wives for 70-80 million VND. At around 5:25 p.m. the same day, when Van took Thuy and Tuyet to Quang Ninh, she was caught red-handed by the police. When she heard that her accomplices had been arrested, Tran Thi Ty turned herself in.

Considering the evidence, as well as aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the Trial Panel sentenced Tran Thi Ty to 4 years in prison and Luong Thi Van to 2 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of Human Trafficking.

*The second human trafficking case occurred on October 17, 2015.

At that time, Tri Le Border Guard Station and Que Phong District Police discovered and caught two subjects, Vi Van Luong (born in 1952) and Luong Van Thin (born in 1965), both from Quang Phong Commune, in the act of trafficking people to China for sale. The victims were Ha Thi Hien (born in 1967) and Lo Thi Hien (born in 1986), both from Tri Le Commune. The seized evidence was two cell phones and 7.8 million VND.

The People's Court sentenced defendants Vi Van Luong and Luong Van Thin in Quang Phong commune, Que Phong district to 4 years in prison.

At the investigation agency, Vi Van Luong confessed that his daughter was doing business in China, so he asked Thin to lure greedy people who wanted to go to China to change their lives. The two people found Ha Thi Hien and Lo Thi Hien who agreed to go to China for 100 million VND.

Pursuant to the Penal Code, the defendants Vi Van Luong and Luong Van Thin were prosecuted and tried for the crime of Human Trafficking. The Trial Panel sentenced the two to 8 years in prison./.
