Quang Ninh invites coach Miura to be technical director

The mining team has made an offer to the former head coach of the Vietnam national team, and the answer will be available after Tet.

On February 5, Quang Ninh Club President Pham Thanh Hung met Toshiya Miura. Here, the owner of the mining team invited the strategist born in 1963 to take on the role of Technical Director, in charge of development orientation for the entire Quang Ninh football system. However, the two sides have not signed any official agreement.

Coach Miura said he was very interested in President Pham Thanh Hung's offer, but he needed time to consider it. The Japanese strategist promised to give an answer after Vietnam's Lunar New Year.

Coach Miura came to Vietnamese football in April 2014. Under his leadership, the Vietnamese Olympic team entered the round of 16 of the 2014 ASIAD in Korea for the first time as group leader, the Vietnamese team advanced to the semi-finals of the 2014 AFF Cup, the U23 Vietnam team won the bronze medal at the 28th SEA Games and for the first time qualified for the U23 Asian finals. However, the Japanese strategist still received a lot of criticism due to his pragmatic, calculating playing style and not using the players who grew up from the HAGL Arsenal JMG training center, who are loved by fans.

At the U23 Asian Cup finals, U23 Vietnam was eliminated early with three consecutive losses. On January 28, the VFF Executive Committee voted to fire Coach Miura when his contract had only two months left. The strategist born in 1963 behaved well, refusing to accept the remaining two months' salary ($30,000). He stayed in Vietnam to travel, visit friends and on February 6 took a flight back to Japan.
