Biography of the new Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh
The National Assembly counted the votes and announced on the morning of April 8th that Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was elected Vice President by a majority of votes.

According to information from One World, born in Quang Nam, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and her family migrated to Saigon at the age of 5, bringing with them the traditional weaving craft of the people of Quang Nam, making a living at Bay Hien intersection, the cradle of the revolution and a political stronghold of the South.
Therefore, she embraced the revolutionary cause at an early age, from the age of 13. Guided by her elders, in 1974 she joined the clandestine activities of the Saigon-Gia Dinh Military Mobilization Committee. According to her: "That was a period that helped me train and mature a great deal."
After the reunification of the country, she was assigned to work at the District Party Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. At the District Party Committee office, she had the opportunity to interact with many senior leaders, and she learned many lessons about leadership thinking, as well as their ways of thinking and doing things.
In 1982, she was assigned to be the Head of the People's Mobilization Committee of Ben Thanh Ward. This is the central ward of District 1, and District 1 is the center of Ho Chi Minh City, which is the economic hub of the country. Ms. Thinh faced a lot of pressure. It was this pressure that motivated her to perform her assigned duties well.

For a short time, she was trusted and elected as Deputy Secretary of the Ben Thanh Ward Party Committee, and was a member of the Standing Committee of the District 1 Party Committee. In 1987, she was elected Secretary of the Ben Thanh Ward Party Committee. Ms. Thinh was close to the people, understood their concerns about food, clothing, and money, and resolved security and order issues in the area under her responsibility.
After a four-year term as Secretary of the Party Committee of Ben Thanh Ward, Ms. Thinh was nominated and appointed as the Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuracy of District 1. She became the youngest Chief Prosecutor at the district level in the country, at only 32 years old.
For a time, she was entrusted with the position of Vice Chairperson of the People's Committee of District 1, in charge of the economic sector. As this is a key economic district of the city, Ms. Thinh devoted much thought and effort to the district's economic development.
She continued to be trusted and was transferred to become Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Association. In just over a year, she became President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Association, serving a term of four years.
"Having held many positions and worked in various fields—movements, mass organizations, state management, internal affairs, etc.—has provided a foundation that helps me do well in my later work," Ms. Thinh shared.
Having performed well in her role as President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union, Ms. Thinh was transferred to become Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Population and Children.
In April 2006, at the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (2006-2010 term), Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was elected as an alternate member of the 10th Central Committee. From October 2007, she held the position of Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union.
In May 2009, following a decision by the Politburo on personnel rotation, she was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, in charge of grassroots Party work.
In October 2010, at the 9th Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee (2010-2015 term), she was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 9th term.
In March 2015, according to a decision of the Politburo, Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, a member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, was reassigned from her position as Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee to the position of Deputy Chief of the Central Party Office.
In January 2016, at the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (2016-2020 term), she was elected to the 12th Central Committee.
